Studying the attic

Amateur Radio has the opportunity to take me places I've never been before. Today, I managed to visit one such of these places. That place was my attic.

I should state before I even begin that this is still very much a work in progress. I've been wanting to put antennas up in my attic for a while, with the goal of improving my range, plus it would seem to be a convenient place to place an HF antenna. I poked my head up there for the first time to see what I had to work with, and I took a few pictures to show to everyone.

I should say, I'm in a town home that doesn't have a ton of space, but there is definately enough height to put a Arrow J-pole antenna, which is what I'm hoping to do next.

What I'm seeing as a problem is that there doesn't seem to be a good way to run a cable from my attic down to where my radio will be. I think I'll choose to look at this as an opportunity for creative engineering for the moment;-)

I'm planning on taking these photos to show a few local Hams, and get a few suggestions as to what I might be able to do. I'm very new to attic exploration, so I'm hoping to get all of the help I can;-)

Without further ado, my attic, for the moment without antennas.
